Gorgeous, Edwardian tea gown/dress constructed of embroidered wool with Irish lace.
The dress has an embroidered wool apron overlay atop Irish lace with a net lace backing bodice over a hidden corset bodice; a net lace collar with metal stays;
3/4 length Irish lace sleeves, no backing, with net lace sleeves at the forearms.
Irish lace inserts at sides of skirt extend down to about the knees, backed with silk gauze. Skirt has a 2" hem; metal weights at the sides below the lace.
Hook & eye closures up the back of corset and at back of dress.
Best fits an XXS. Measurements are taken flat, doubled where appropriate - there is no give:
Neck 6 1/2" around, 2 1/2" tall
Bodice 15 1/2" long (from the neck to the bottom of waist belt)
Amazing condition! Wool fabric is sound and wearable, lace with reasonable care, as antique lace is always rather delicate. Some breaks in the net lace at the bodice but there is the net lace backing so not too much of an issue; a few tiny breaks in the Irish lace but not noticeable. Some grazing to the wool but not obtrusive. Some tears to the silk corset. Overall storage dust and a stain at the front which may resolve with a professional dry cleaning. This dress has not been cleaned.
